A Touch of Magic: Writing Fantasy Stories (K-1 grade)
Have you ever dreamed of floating away on a cloud? Of visiting a place like Narnia or Candyland? In this workshop, our imaginations are the limit. Young writers will create stories through improvisational games and a variety of art and creative activities. Then, they will capture their ideas in drawings, photographs, in scenes they act out, and stories they dictate to their instructor. Not only does this class build creative thinking skills, but young writers will come away with a deeper understanding of all the essential elements of stories: characters, setting, conflict, beginnings, middles and ends, juicy words, and more. Writers will have the opportunity to share their masterpieces on the last day of class.
